OPEN COMMUNICATION

Transparency and Communication Update

For the past 15 months in office, our team has prioritized transparency in our Programs, collaboration with DCA, and engagement with the Tribal Council. Through quarterly Manager meetings, we have created an open space to address concerns and develop timely solutions.

One key issue raised was the need for better communication between Members and employees. To improve this, all Executives report monthly to the Council, and the information is also shared via Sota for those who cannot attend Council sessions.

Moving forward, we will expand our communication efforts by providing an Executive Report along with helpful updates:
Sent to employee emails
Published on our website
Distributed through Sota

This initiative will ensure all Tribal members have quick and easy access to important updates. We appreciate your patience as we continue to grow in leadership.

Monthly Priorities

🔹 Open Communication
🔹 Group Home Development
🔹 Finance: Audits & Indirect Cost Analysis
🔹 Solar for All Initiative
🔹 Agriculture Programs
🔹 Broadband Expansion
🔹 Community Garden Projects

Who We Serve

The Lighthouse Group Home supports child victims and witnesses affected by:
Physical and sexual abuse

Currently, the Tribal Secretary is working alongside SWO Child Protection and DSS to implement funded solutions for Tribal children in need. This includes the construction of two new homes in Agency Village, which will soon provide comprehensive, therapeutic care.

The Wakanhdi Ijanjan Tipi Kinthe (Lighthouse) is now the second child safety center operated by Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate, following the successful Little Voices center.
